Tropical and Subtropical Development Division
The Division is part of the MATE Szent Istvan Security Research Center and coordinates its professional and scientific relations with existing and new universities and research institutions in the tropical and subtropical regions.
The priority regions are:
- Africa (countries of North, South, Central and East Africa)
- Asia (Middle and Far East)
- Latin America and
- The former Soviet Republics.
Tasks:
- liaising and networking with partner institutions (database creation)
- identifying and coordinating research areas according to local needs
- organising and setting up research and consultancy projects
- coordinating training (mainly adult education) in target countries
- facilitating participation in Hungarian education and research for people from the target countries (students and exchange students/researchers)
- registering and assisting students from tropical-subtropical countries (alumni system) in order to build the knowledge base and cooperation network of the future
- to establish and operate a specialised college for students from tropical-subtropical countries.
